We are a 60ish couple travelling in our small camper van and recently stopped in Tenterfield area for a few days...loved the area and people with one exception... The showground Campsite. The caretaker was unbelievably rude and treated us as if we had some sort of disease...the campground had only 2 large motorhomes in it and when we asked if we could stay near the river(we use no power)for a bit of privacy she insisted on putting us next to her house or right beside the entry within 2 metres of the others! They were well on their way to a big drinking session and we had no desire to put up with that for the note. Rudeness personified and ended up at Bluff Rock rest area and had a great few days...loved the area but not the bogan caretaker.

We have stayed here on many occasions and found the review by Marie Moody to be very true. Although the care taking staff has changed a few times since we started staying here the level of service has not deteriorated one bit. This park is a credit to the Tenterfield Showground Trust. We would not stay anywhere else when visiting Tenterfield. The cost has increased to $25 per night powered site but it is still good value when a lot of parks are now up around the $30 - 35.

The Tenterfield Showgrounds are situated within walking distance of the shops. It is a large grassed area that will accommodate big rigs. There are powered and unpowered sites. You pay the care taker who lives in the house opposite the grounds. There is a nice little creek running along behind the sites. The cost per night for powered sites is only $18 and unpowered sites are $16 per night. The amenities are clean. They also have a toilet and shower with wheelchair access. This is a very pleasant place to stay and is very quiet as it is away from any highway.
