Photos on this page were supplied by our roving reporters Phil and Clare Davis in May 2010 and Ross Bignell in May 2013.
Phil and Clare write:
The drive to Lake Argyle is sealed road from Kununurra (70km) or from the Northern Territory Border (42km). We found that this caravan park was an ideal site to base ourselves while exploring the East Kimberly region.
The park is set on more than 5 hectares with 100 shady powered sites and ample room for unpowered sites, the powered sites are $32 per night with a variety of parking areas which can accommodate larger rigs. As well the park has fully air-conditioned cabins with ensuites with views overlooking the lake. For the more budget minded traveller there are outback safari cabins designed for the cooler months.
The amenities are very clean and are individual shower & toilet cubicles; as well there is a pool that is set with a view overlooking the lake and the roughed Carr Boyd Ranges that has to be seen to believe.
The park has a Bar and Meal area with slightly above average costs, which one becomes accustom to out this way, as well as a small shop, fuel and laundry facility, unfortunately there is no phone or email coverage available except by utilising the shops own pay email or phone system.
We found the park was very quiet with a monitored noise patrol after 10pm, the park is also the point for many tours such as Boat cruises, bird watching plenty of 4WD adventures, hiking and fishing which seems to be the major reason visitors come here.
If you are travelling this way you should at least spend a little time here we have and enjoyed it immensely.
