Port Fairy is a town of 2,650 people situated 292km south-west of Melbourne and 26km west of Warrnambool on the Great Ocean Road. Fishing is the main industry with abalone and crayfish being the main targets. The town has many historical buildings including Mott's Cottage, Merrijig Inn, St Patrick's Catholic Church, St John's Anglican Church and the Old Moyne Mill. An Ex Libris Book Fair is held each easter and the Moyneyana Festival at Christmas/New Year. Some delightful walks can be experienced along the Moyne River particularly around the wharves. Port Fairy punches way beyond its weight when it comes to Festivals. The Port Fairy Folk Festival takes place every year in March and attracts visitors from all over Australia and even overseas.
