Narromine is a town of 6,500 people located on the south bank of the Macquarie River 449km north-west of Sydney. The town is 40km west of Dubbo and supports a large agricultural area of sheep and wheat. The town has a very large tree nursery, Narromine Transplants. Narromine was an important Airforce Training base during the Second World War and it still attracts aviators from all parts of Australia. The town has an excellent Aviation Museum. The town is located on the Mitchell Highway.
