Murray Bridge is a town of 17,400 people situated 78km south-east of Adelaide. The town gets its name because the first bridge to span the Murray River was built in this area. The original name of the town was Mobilong. The river continues to be a significant recreational resource for the town. Farming is very big in the area with wine-growing, dairying plus sheep and cattle. One of the great attractions near Murray Bridge is the Monarto Zoological Park which covers 1,000 hectares where animals range free. The park has a Cheetah habitat and South Australia's first ever Southern White Rhinoceros. Many rare and endangered species can be seen at the Park.
