Lane Cove River Tourist Park - Macquarie Park NSW

Gold Award for Excellence

The Lane Cove River Tourist Park is owned and managed by the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water. This was the winner of the Best Caravan Park Camp Ground in Australia for 2008 and NSW for 2007 and 2008. This is an amazing park set in the midst of the Lane Cove National Park. Although this park is surrounded by a city of over 4 million people you feel you have gone back to nature. The park has 210 tourist sites and 182 of these are powered. The park is close to the CBD and main motorways that criss cross the city. The amenities and facilities are excellent and the staff are very friendly. Although this is a very big park with lots of room it pays to book ahead. The park has been awarded the Caravan Park Photos Gold Award for Excellence in location, facilities, eco-friendly and outstanding customer service.
Bookings can be made by Telephone: 1300 729 133 or 02 9888 9133; Fax: 02 9888 9322 or Online: Click Submit Booking Enquiry button on the right. Please let the park know that you have seen their photos on Caravan Park Photos.

Park is under new management not national parks any longer but same still basic rules apply. Nothing has changed in the park which is a good thing cos it keeps its bush feel. The access gate at other end of park is locked now to stop free loaders from entering the park which is great but makes the walk to train station a lot longer if you are staying at the other end cos you have to double back on yourself. Will ask for a site near office for that reason. Only because my legs were so tied from walking all day when out and about ! Still enjoyed my stay. Sites prices go up every year but not just by a little bit! Hope the new managers don’t change too much of the park. Upgrade to the amenities would be nice but they work and are clean so that’s all I care about

The management of this park is a multimillion dollar US management group.
Backed by the NSW government. They are the only park that has refused to give even a part refund for a $900.00 booking for April. They made us pay the full amount up front when we made the booking in October 2019. They do not see Covert 19 as an except able need to cancel. I call on all caravaners to remember the parks that supported vanes during this time and those who do not, when we all start traveling again. Big4 and a number of small private parks have been great. This multimillion dollar group only see $ signs.

Also want to inform everyone that the park does NOT offer pension or seniors discount any longer and you have to pay in full up front which was not the case previously.

We have stayed so many times at this fantastic park but feel a little bit ripped off at our last visit. Powered sites have gone up to $42 per night from $39 and no 7th night free as was always before. There is also a 2.5% booking fee charged! It is a government owned park so they have just got greedy. There are very limited facilities which makes you wonder where your money goes! Sadly we will not be returning as often as we used to and would like to.

Forgot to say that the cabins here are very basic but are clean and well equiped. We stayed in them 2 years ago before we got our caravan. Also if you are a Home and away fan, you might be lucky enough to see them filming in the bottom of the park. They use this park as Summer Bay caravan Park.

Lane Cove caravan park is a great park to stay while visiting Sydney. It is only a 10 minute walk to North Ryde train station which takes you right into the city. If staying for up to a week, purchase a 7 day ticket which works out much cheaper and you get to ride the ferries as well around the harbour. The park itself is run and operatd by the National parks and there are many trees and wildlife in the park. Be prepare to be pested by very friendly lorrikeets, possums and Brush turkeys. Lane cove National park is next to the park and there are some bush walks you can do. While we were there there were quite a few international tourists staying in the campervan section and they were unfriendly and dont know how to clean up after themselves when using the emenities. This si the only thing we hated about the park but the emenities were cleaned well and there was plenty of hot water. In the city we visited Madame Tasauds where you can get your photo taken with Ned Kelly, Nic Kidman, Michael Jackson, the Queen, Shane Wayrne and lots of other celebs. We had lots of fun there. We also Climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge, what an experience that was! The ship the pacific Jewel was in dock and she is lovely cruise ship. Botany Bay is a great National park to visit and this is where Capt. Cook landed. There is the maratime museum and Aquarium as well at Darling Harbour. The posabilities are endless.
