Maria Island Camping Ground - Maria Island TAS

Maria Island’s large camping ground is close to the ruins of Darlington—a 19th century convict settlement. There are plenty of level sites here lining each side of Bernacchi’s Creek, and the campground has a number of fireplaces, although portable stoves are recommended. Tank water is provided, and other facilities include toilets, gold coin-operated showers, a visitor information centre and park ranger’s office.
Bookings are not required, but camping fees do apply. There are no shops or cars on Maria Island, but mountain biking is a great way to explore the Park and you can bring your bike across on the ferry.
You can also camp at free sites at French's Farm and Encampment Cove—between three and four hours’ walk from Darlington—and basic accommodation can be booked in the Old Penitentiary at Darlington.
For information on ferry services to Maria Island, contact the Triabunna Visitor Information Centre on (03) 6257 4772.
