Powlett River Caravan Park - Kilcunda VIC

Pet Friendly

Powlett River Caravan Park is situated well away from the Bass Highway near Kilcunda. The park is a bit rough around the edges but has plenty of space for caravans and camping. The park has 103 sites of which 96 are powered. A large number of permanent weekender vans are in the park. Faciities are adequate. The park is pet friendly. This park does not have an email address so the only way you can make a booking is by telephone and please tell them that you saw their photos on Caravan Park Photos. Photos on this page were taken on 12th July, 2008.
My family and I stay here often on holidays and always enjoy our stay. Myself and my sister have young children and they always ask to come back soon. We love camping in Kilcunda ever since we first visited, and it was our first visit here that made us want to come back and camp here, we wouldn't go anywhere else and never will. Powlett River Caravan Park is the BEST camping place we've ever been too, so we will be seeing you all again very VERY soon. Robyn Kenny, Melbourne Victoria.

We stayed at the park for a few days and it as fabulous. Great walks, great beach access and the park facilities are very well maintained.

We did not get to see too much of the park’s facilities as the owner refused accommodation. We arrived at 5pm riding bicycles on a tour; myself, wife, and son. Owner said he does not do ‘single-nighters’ and had a four-night minimum. Despite plenty of space in the park, he basically said “go away, no room at the inn”, even though we were prepared to pay for camping space. The owner has just done himself out of $20-30, all over a booking principle.

This man should not be in hospitality, he is a waste-of-space, and no-one should grace his caravan park.

Bit archaic not to have an email address in this day and age. Tried calling but as everyone else has said, to no avail. Guess I'll be looking elsewhere. Maybe they don't need the business. Why ask for an email address if there's no email?

Hi we would like to come and caravan with our 5 grandkids over this school holiday . I can never get an answer from your park when I call ,which has been at least 10 times now . hoping this email reaches someone .

Used to free camp on beach years ago, told I'd be fined big time if I did now. But tried numerous times to book a site but seldom answered and when they did they we're always full. Strangely (but not after reading here) after walking through half empty park called and was told they we're overflowing. The mouth of the powlett is a fantastic place esspessially for kids but sadly the owners don't seem to care. Pity my grandkids will miss camping in such a buetiful area.

We love the caravan park but the manager needs to learn some people skills . Eveytime we call he says it's booked out or you must stay a minimum 7 nights , we've actually driven there when he's told us it's booked out and there's actually heaps of vacant sites .Dont think he wants the business or too lazy to open both sides of the shower blocks he may just have to karcher both sides too much effort showers are gross. Other campers are lovely and surrounds beautiful just the owner needs a new attitude so off to kilcunda again we go to nice management and exceptionally clean facilities .

Planning to stay here next month, trying to get hold of them on the phone but not having much luck.
Do you have to pay for a campsite if you're camping without power.. just tents?

Toilets leave a lot to be desired, I got my children to wee in the bush nearby rather than sit on the seats, someone needs to advise the owner of this park that daily cleaning (not just hosing out) is actually required. And if you do just hose the toilet block out instead of disinfect it, you could at least mop the water up afterwards.

We loved it, great for children and we are going again!

It's a convenient location from Mt Eliza.
Facilities have always left a lot to be desired but adequate.
Lovely mowed oval and grassed sites.
Good for fishing in the Powlett River and cool for swimming near the mouth or in the sea.
Campfires have been allowed outside restricted season.

And also can you have a small camp fire there?

    Cheers :-)

Hi I was just wondering if you could swim in the beach near this caravan park?
  19. Jane Carter Tue June 12, 2012 at 6:55 PM

we like to stay here as it is remote, pet friendly and you always seem to be able to get a caravan site. The cleanliness and facilities of the toilet blocks leave a lot to be desired. One overlooks this for the convenience of the park etc. even though one should not have to overlook this situation. Also we were shocked to have to pay so much for a powered site for the facilities that are offered. It is definitely not worth the cost. We have stayed here many times but probably won't come again.....unfortunately......as we can get a lovely site in a beautifully run and maintained park for the same cost in the same area.
