The historic bushranger town of
Glen Innes is situated high on the New England Range 667km north of Sydney. The local economy is based on agriculture including wool, sheep, beef, timber and honey. Fossicking for sapphires is a main attraction to the area. The population is approx 6,234 people. Glen Innes takes pride in it's celtic heritage reflected in the Australian Standing Stones exhibition east of the town. The history of the area is preserved in the Land of Beadies History House. Local Government services are provided by the
Severn Shire Council.
