Forty Mile Campground - Forty Mile QLD

Pet Friendly

Forty Mile Campground is located on the Kennedy Highway at Forty Mile Queensland. It is not far from the Savannah Highway Junction. Forty Mile is 1703km north west of Brisbane. The trip takes approximately 18 hours and 50 minutes, although slower if you are towing a heavy van or large rig. There is plenty of room here for RVs of all shape and sizes. Please respect the personal space of other campers who may be in the area when you arrive. Plenty of bird life and the obligatory mozzies. If you decide to stay here overnight then you do this at your own risk.

This site looks as though it was a storage site for road metal/gravel a couple of years ago and it has been left as a wide open gravelled site with plenty of room for all sized rigs. Although close to the main road, it is set down below the upper road level and noise is not a problem. The site has no facilities but a well maintained toilet block is located directly across the main road (Kennedy Highway), where there is a long sealed truck /car parking area adjacent. The rest area is not posted as such, but it makes a very useful place to stop over close to the Undara Lava tubes site if you are booked in there for a tour etc (as several other people were who were also camped there for the night). The Undara site has a free parking area on site for people with RVs who are taking a tour of the Lava tubes (bookings essential).
