Salvator Rosa Campground - Carnarvon National Park QLD

Salvator Rosa is a remote park which lies between Springsure and Tambo. From Springsure, head 114km west along the Dawson Developmental Road to the park turnoff. From Tambo head 42km north then east 64km on the Dawson Developmental Road. Turn right at the park notice and drive south via "Cungelella" to the park boundary.
A self-guided drive takes you to the park's most outstanding features.
* Spyglass Peak - A 500m walking track leads to an area where you can view a 10m hole that is just below the summit.
* Belinda Spring - A stream of cool, clear water runs from the rocks in an area that is sheltered by clusters of ferns.
* Louisa Creek Junction - This small day-use area has a shelter shed and picnic table. The flow of the water from Louise Creek into the Nogoa River has been measured at approximately ten million litres a day.
* Homoranthus Hill - Walk a short distance from the carpark to a lookout with 360 degree views.
* Major Mitchell Springs - On 5 July 1846, Mitchell and his party camped near here.
The Camping Area
Situated beside the Nogoa River. This bush camping area has a modern pit toilet. Obtain a permit from the self-registration shelter - $4.50 pp/pn (Aug '08) The Ranger, who lives 16km away, visits on a regular basis.

For those who like to explore remote National Parks, this is a must. Permanent, crystal clear water and white sand add to its appeal. Experience the area where explorer Major Mitchell camped during his exploration of the area.
