Bowling Green Bay National Park is divided into three sections:
- Mount Elliot section
- Cape Cleveland section
- Bowling Green Bay section
Alligator Creek is 25 kilometers south of Townsville; Cape Cleveland 33 kilometers south of Townsville; Bowling Green Bay 64 kilometers south of Townsville and 26 kilometers north of Ayr. See the DERM Qld site for a more detailed description on directions and access:

There are several options for camping in Bowling Green Bay National Park. There is one campground with facilities, three camping areas with no facilities and opportunities for remote hiking and camping. All camping activities in the park require a permit and fees apply.
There are a number of walks and extensive hikes in the areas.
-Lower lookout, Alligator Falls (Mount Elliot section)
-Alligator Creek boardwalk (Mount Elliot section)
-Alligator Falls (Mount Elliot section)—17 kilometers return (5–6 hours) Grade: Difficult
-Other extended bushwalking opportunities exist on Mount Elliot and Mount Cleveland for experienced walkers. Again, you need to go to the DERM website for more details.
At Alligator Creek, near the campground, a spacious day-use area has picnic tables, a shelter shed, gas barbecues and toilets. Picnic tables are also located along the creek. Please remove your rubbish.
Fishing in the coastal sections of the park is permitted in some areas but not in others. Please check current zoning maps to find out where fishing is allowed. Campground features: Beside Alligator Creek visitors can relax among gum trees or go walking to explore the surrounding creek environment.
Location: 600 metres beyond the main access gate, along the banks of Alligator Creek.
Access: The campground can be reached by conventional vehicle. It is accessible for trailers and caravans, but not buses.
Number of sites: 16 numbered sites. Up to eight people per site are allowed.
Campsites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car, walk-in camping, caravans, camper trailers, small motor homes and large groups.
Campsite surface: dirt
Facilities: Flushing toilets, cold showers, tap (water must be treated before drinking), free gas barbecues (in the day-use area) and picnic tables. The amenities block is wheelchair accessible.
Open fires: Not allowed. Bring a fuel or gas stove.
Generators: Not allowed.
Essentials to bring: Drinking water, rubbish bags, a fuel or gas stove and insect repellent. Read more about things to know before you go.
Bookings: Book online, over-the-counter or by phone. Holiday periods are extremely popular.
Mobile phone coverage: Not available. Public phone located in campground.
