At Hobart Beach there are ample opportunities for swimming, fishing, canoeing and walking. Hobart Beach is 344.3 km SSW of Sydney There's a viewing platform at North Tura and good picnicking at Bournda Lagoon. A newly completed viewing platform and beach access at Turingal Head, north of Wallagoot Lake, is worth a visit to view the dramatic rock formations around the river mouth. Car-based and caravan camping (not powered) is available at Hobart Beach. Access 20 km south-east of Bega on Sapphire Coast Drive. Vehicle entry fee applies. Wheelchair access: medium You’ll find secluded campsites, accessible showers and a large, cement-floored picnic shelter here. The camping ground is a short drive from the lake. This campground is next to several short walks, beaches, the lake and fishing spots.
This campground is along Bournda Road - off Sapphire Coast Drive, 14km north of Merimbula.
Facilities: picnic tables, wood barbecues, gas/electric barbecues, flush toilets, hot showers, amenities block, drinking water. Drinking water is available - boil before use.
Bookings are essential during Christmas and Easter school holidays. Easter bookings open at 12am on 1 February and Christmas bookings open at 12am on 1 August each year. You can apply for bookings by mail, fax or email. The campsite is accessible by all weather unsealed roads suitable for 2wd vehicles.
Turn off the Sapphire Coast Drive 14km north of Merimbula onto Bournda Road - there is a signpost pointing to Hobart Beach camping area. Follow Bournda Road to the end. The road turns to dirt at the park boundary. There are signposts to the campsites. The campground is near the lake at Hobart Beach. You can park a caravan, trailer, or a tent in this campground There are a total of 36 campsites
This is a well-established campsite close to the beach and lake. There are garbage and recycling bins. Each campsite is well defined and there is a large covered common area. The camp surrounds the stone and timber toilet and laundry facility.
