Don't write the park off yet as I heard new people are buying the park and are going to spend some money on upgrading the park. They are taking over in May 2014. Jade

Hi Peter Duncan of Townsville sorry you had a bad experience but yeah this Caravan park is grubby looking and run down but Council has nothing to do with the shoreline camping that also is run by the caravan park owner who has a lease on the shoreline camping other wise I think if Council had it they would clean it up, Its a Disgrace to our local tourism and the locals like me aren't proud of it.but go to this site on facebook and let the people who lease the area to him know how grubby the place is thanks Alan https://www.facebook.com/Seqwater

What a disgraceful Caravan Park...if you can call it that. From what I saw, it is more like a filthy shop that caretakes a council owned camp ground...and poorly at that. We asked to camp within the grounds of the park, but were directed to the unpowered council area near the dam. Once we walked through the grounds to have a shower (there are none in the camp area) we could see why. 'Run Down' does not begin to describe this park. We will not be back.

We camped by the shore of the dam, a beautiful spot but our weekend was spoilt by the nasty park owner. We were not allowed to bring our vehicles to the area where we camped and had to carry every item from the road to set up our camp, and back again to go home. We had a waeco in our vehicle that needed the car's battery power, the car had to remain on the road so every time we needed anything from our fridge we had to walk up to the road. The fence surrounding the camping area is kept locked at all times to keep out day trippers and apparently campers as well!!! The park itself is very run down, the pool was filthy and we had three snakes, one brown and 2 red bellied blacks, in our camp due to waist high grass growing at the edge of our site. I would not recommend this park to anyone mainly due to the rudeness of the owner.

We stayed in the "in between run down, and deluxe" cabins as quoted by the person on the phone who took our reservation. That was an UNDERSTATEMENT.. The "cabin" was a REALLY run down semi mobile home and the roof was falling in on it. We called our bed, "the prison" bed and they were suposed to bring us beds for our kids to sleep on, that they charged us for, but instead brought these horrible foam mattresses for them to sleep on the very dirty floor. The only upgrades to this place was the flat screen tv and the air conditioning. Honestly, if I had known how bad this place was, I would have saved the $175 we payed for the two nights, and went and went and bought some camping gear and slept on the ground (which would have been softer) I asked my husband if we were sleeping on the box springs and they just forgot to bring the mattress and he laughed and said, "Australians don't have box springs" SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON"T STAY HERE.. NOT WORTH IT..
