McDouall Stuart Memorial - Anmatjere NT
The McDouall Stuart Memorial is located on the Stuart Highway at Anmatjere in the Northern Territory. Anmatjere is 1,318 km south of Darwin in the Northern Territory. The trip takes approximately 14 hours and 54 minutes, although slower if you are towing a heavy van or large rig. Watch out for kangaroos and emus on the road. The area can be busy at times, particularly if you arrive late at night. There are camp fire pits. Shady areas are available. You should have no problems with traffic noise at night.

We stayed here in mid July 2016 for overnight stop. There is a bitumen road leading in and out of the site which runs along a fence line and is separated from the Stuart highway by about a 20 metres strip of low scrub and a few trees.
There were about 8 vans there by nightfall and it is a reasonable overnight stopping area although truck traffic overnight may bother some people. There are no facilities there apart from a rubbish bin.
