Queens Park Garden - Toowoomba QLD

Toowoomba is know throughout Australia as the Garden City. Its many parks and gardens reflect the importance of gardens in the city. Ironically Queens Park Gardens were used as a garbage dump until 1931. Many changes have been made to the park over the years including the removal of the swimming pool (originally built in 1894), greenhouse, bandstand and kiosk. It is pleasing to see many remnants of the earlier tree plantings made by pioneer curators. The Botanical Gardens are well worth a visit and offer a beautiful place for reflection and relaxation. The preservation and maintainence of Queens Park Gardens is a great credit to the Toowoomba City Council.
