The Major Mitchell Caravan Park is located at Lot 1 Warrego Hwy Mitchell. The park has 58 tourist sites and all but 10 of these are powered. The park is pet friendly. We stayed overnight in May 2015. Friendly management, showers and toilets old but reasonably clean, could do with a little more care, no soap for some of the toilets. Our site was grass and level and we remained hooked up. Camp kitchen large and clean with roof cover, no sides. Bit of a problem with wind and rain. The park looks nice and well worth a stop.

Our visit was in July 2013. We loved our stay due to the friendly management and the happy attitude of all the other campers at this park. A fundraising pancake breakfast was a real treat on the first Saturday of our stay and broke the ice amongst the campers. The sites are spacious and they are unusually arranged to minimize the sloping location of the park alongside the Maranoa River. Facilities were unisex, plentiful, clean and very good. The Artesian Spa was located in the town across the river (I mistakenly thought they were closer) and well worth a visit. The communal fire pits were a great way to socialise with other campers.
