Melbourne is set around the shores of Port Phillip Bay and is one hour from Sydney by jet but a good deal longer by car and train. The city boasts a lively cosmopolitan culture with outstanding restaurants, galleries, entertainment venues and lots of exciting shopping.

The city is neatly laid out and is easy to navigate. The famous Melbourne trams provide excellent transport from the city to the suburbs and they are backed up by an extensive rail system. Stylish arcades and large entertainment facilities can be found along and near Southbank which is situated on the Yarra River.
