Phila and Clare write:
"Of the three caravan sites we tried this park we found to be marginally better than Bitter Springs Caravan Park and 100% better than the Homestead Park and is family owned and run.Power sites cost $27 a night and the park offers, shady, grass sites for all caravan and campers, its amenities were clean and well presented and those wishing an ensuite site these are also available utilising a centre block of four individual ensuite with four caravans sharing the block. There is also cabin accommodation and prices vary in different seasons. The park boasts a swimming pool, spa and open air licensed restaurant with good priced meals and a wide variety of meal choices. Every day at 9am and 3pm there is a free Barramundi feeding show at the billabong which is also situated in the park.Other nearby attractions down the road 1.2kms is the beautiful natural Bitter Springs which you can enjoy and swim safely in., or like many other visitors do rather than stay in the Mataranka Homestead, just drive the 7kms and park outside the Homestead and walk 500mtrs inside the National Park to the larger hot water spring. As stated in my other reports on Mataranka Homestead, Bitter Springs visit each park first and choose which suits you as this report is strictly our opinion of what we felt about the three parks we tied in Mataranka."

We stayed in May 2015. Would agree with previous comments in the most part. Toilets/Showers are still on the decline. They need to be renovated to bring them up to a reasonable standard. The cleaning is a hit and miss. Grass can be a little sparse and sites are ill defined but are level, well shaded reasonable in size, some are even large as was ours. Most are drive through and you can stay hitched. Not too impressed with the meal in the restaurant. May have just been a bad night!!!! Having said all that I think it's the best park in Mataranka. We looked at the others and decided they were not the best choice for us.

We stayed here in a caravan, in June 2014 for a couple of nights, having stayed in other Mataranka parks on earlier trips. We agree with the comments passed above by Phil and Clare Davis. The amenities appear to have deteriorated a bit in the past 4 years, but are still very reasonable and cleaned daily etc. The powered sites are of good size, laid out in a more freestyle fashion than the norm and are generally well grassed. Good value for families with children, as site fee of $30.00 includes any children.
