Calliope River Rest Area - South Trees QLD
Flushing toilets, ALWAYS others camped there. Shop short walk to get bread milk, etc. just back over the river.Maximum 48 hour stay One of the best camping places .

"One of the best FREE ROADSIDE STOPS in QLD. It is about 1km from the Bruce Hwy so roadnoise is almost nil. Has toilets but no showers. Large grassy area for camping along the river. Grey nomads frequent this stop all through winter, so it can get busy this time of year so you will have to pull in early to secure river frontage. Summer time you will often be one of only a couple of camps in a 5 acre radius."
