Southern Cross Caravan Park is located at Hungerford Rd - W , Hungerford. The town is very small. Hungerford is located on the Queensland/New South Wales border 993km west of Brisbane. The town was named after the pioneer pastoralist Thomas Hungerford. The Royal Mail Hotel was built in 1873 and is still in use today. The Royal Mail was originally a staging post for Cobb & Co.
Currawinya National Park is only a few kilometres away from Hungerford following the old Cobb & Co route.The National Park is an area of prolific birdlife, with over 200 species and they are a sight to see after the good rains of recent years. Hungerford holds a bi-annual field day, with the next one being in June 2007. This is an event not to be missed.
