Kilcowera Station - Hungerford QLD

Kilcowera Station is situated between Thargomindah and Hungerford, about half way along the Dowling Track, in South West Queensland. Travellers by air or road are now able to visit the 94000 hectare property and enjoy the rangelands, lagoons, creeks, waterholes, gorges, caves and wildlife.

Accommodation is provided in clean, comfortable shearer's quarters which can sleep 17. All linen is supplied. Bathroom facilities are outside and separate from the main building. Meals are available with advance bookings or you can bring your own supplies and cook for yourself in the fully equipped kitchen. Great hospitality, tours and camp oven cooking are our speciality. Campsites are also available in three separate camp grounds, either at the Shearers Quarters, at Cardenyabba Lagoon or the very remote Youlaingee Spring area.

Guests can take the 60 kilometres self drive property tour and view the RAMSAR listed Lake Wyara which is on the eastern boundary. The lake and its associated wetlands are of international significance and are among the most important inland water bird habitats in Australia. The isolated Murderers' Bore as featured by Evan McHugh in his book Red Centre Dark Heart will also be seen on the tour.

Kilcowera’s bird list now stands at 170 species and guests have plenty of opportunity to spot them as they drive or walk on the many tracks around the property.  Visitors are given an information pack on arrival to familiarise themselves with the many aspects of station life. Bookings can be made by telephoning Kilcowera Station and please tell the park that you found them on Caravan Park Photos.
