Halls Gap in the Grampians is one of the best bush walking parks in Australia. Most walks are well sign posted and the tracks are well mantained. The most popular areas of the park are accessed by sealed roads and if you want to visit the lesser known areas most are accessable by well formed dirt roads that do not require an off road vehicle. Spring is a lovely time to visit with the wild flowers in their glory but winter is spectacular as well with the mist swirling around the mountains and camp fires are on the top of the must have list. Walks like Venus baths begin behind the caravan park and you can continue on from here to the Pinnacle. There is also Silverband falls, a water fall like no other as the falls disapear into a pile of rocks then the water reappears further down the creek. This can be seen from a short track. Lake view lookout is a very easy walk with exellent views and for a harder walk, park the car at the base and walk up the sealed road to Mount William which is south of Halls Gap. The views are amazing and you get to see the park in a different way. Lake Bellfield is a dam built in 1966 and a walk acroos the wall is well worth it. The wild life are usually friendly and sometimes too friendly. Lookout for Kookaburras at picnic tables! They will steel your lunch.
