Gin Gin Rest Area - Boolboonda QLD
Gin Gin Rest Area is just beside the pump house is a nice green shaded area with water, table and chairs and close to the toilet, dont stay there as around 11am,3am and 5am the water pumps start and it sounds like an F111 taking off- lot of highway traffic as well with trucks using air brakes coming into town travel the extra distance and stay at Granite Creek.
Quite a nice spot. There is a bit of truck noise during night as close to highway. There is a water treatment plant at southern end of the area and if electric motor starting up annoys you dont camp to close to this. We also found a fair few prickles near the pump station but found the area clean and quite pleasant, unfortunetely no showers. About 1km north of Gin Gin there is a park on the eastern side of the highway with plenty of room. Toilets on site. Good rest spot for all size vans and motor homes. 20 hours only. Dump site in town opposite Mobil SS.

Free place to camp with plenty of shade. Basic toilets with no hot water. Prolific bird life. Delightful river nearby. Semis were a bit noisy through the night. Picnic tables available. This is a site of historical significance.
