Bittangabee Bay - Ben Boyd National Park NSW

The 750 m walk to Boyds Tower is wheelchair-accessible. Day tours and accommodation are available at the lighthouse year round (phone Merimbula for bookings and information). A 30-km track, the Light to Light Walk, links Boyds Tower and the lightstation - a brochure is available from the park office in Merimbula. There's car-based camping (not for caravans} at Saltwater Creek and Bittangabee Bay; bookings are essential for Christmas and Easter holidays {write to PO Box 656, Merimbula 2548, fax 6495 5055 or email fscr@environment.nsw.gov.au).
Access In two sections to the north and south of Eden. The north section is via Haycock Road 8 km north of Eden off the Princes Highway. The south section is 25 km south of Eden on Green Cape Road (unsealed) off Edrom Road. Green Cape accommodation is designed for wheelchair access. Vehicle entry fee applies. Wheelchair access: medium
The coastal walking track is nearby, as well as places for fishing, swimming, snorkelling and diving. You'll need to bring your own firewood to this camping ground.
Getting there: Turn off the Princes Highway onto Edrom Road, 18km south of Eden. After 6km on Edrom Road, turn right onto Green Cape Road. After travelling along Green Cape Road for around 15km, take the turnoff left to Bittangabee.
Facilities: picnic tables, wood barbecues (bring your own firewood), gas/electric barbecues, non-flush toilets
Water supply: There are rainwater tanks here.
Bookings: Bookings are essential during Christmas and Easter school holidays. Easter bookings open at 12am on 1 February and Christmas bookings open at 12am on 1 August each year. You can apply for bookings by mail, fax or email. The campsite is accessible by all weather unsealed roads suitable for 2wd vehicles
386.6 km SSW of Sydney
From the Princes Hwy 18km south of Eden, turn onto Edrom Road. After about 6km, turn right onto Green Cape Road (signposted "Green Cape") and drive for about 15km then turn left to Bittangabee Bay. The campsite is at the end of the road. Follow the signposts to Bittangabee Bay.
You can park a trailer, or a tent in this campground - but no caravans
There are a total of 30 campsites
Bitangabee campground is a great place to access the coastal walking track, and there is plenty of swimming, fishing, snorkeling to be done as well. There are some rainwater tanks on site but be prepared for them to be empty. You can explore the bay on the coastal tracks and check out the ruined storehouse on the waters' edge.
